Time for a new post, it is interesting to read what makes a blog interesting, especially to me since I am new to this world of "The Blog". I heard a great joke the other day on Conan: There is a new form of communication coming that combines, facebook, twitter and youtube, it's called: utwitface. I just think that sums it all up beautifully. Anyway, so I am not so sure that the blog will be interesting to anybody in particular as it really is just rantings and ravings from my very small piece of the world.
I have my own business doing graphic design which is something I enjoy doing, so that makes a difference when you enjoy your work, you can see my website at www.graphicsplace.com.au, if you should be so inclined (smile). I work from home, I have one daughter, who just turned 9 and am married for over 10 years now. We live in Brisbane on an acre which is fairly heavily greened with loads of trees and plants everywhere. We probably have the most planted block in our entire suburb, which is really nice. As I went off to sleep last night it was raining and the weather this morning looks rather patchy, so it will probably sprinkle rather intermittently throughout the day - weather report for my suburb now over. Oooh, heavy rain now, nice, very nice way to start the day, it isn't even light yet.
Today I must design a brochure for an up and coming BMW Formula One Racer, so we shall see how that comes together by the end of the day. I am also hoping to perhaps squeeze in a room re-design in their too.

Aaagh yes, another early start to the day, a Thursday at that ... so far this week in Delia World, well Monday starts with a phone call from my Mother doing the usual one of many weekly rants about how stupid and awful her husband was, so I told her to either get out or stay, but either way get over it and stop ringing and whinging about it. This did not make her very happy and she started to spiral - up or down - not really sure which and so I just had to hang up the phone. Consequently, she is no longer speaking with me this week. YAY for small blessings.

Also turn up to school on Monday with our daughter looking rather spectacular in uniform only to see this sea of children in various colour t shirts because it is the first of two days of sports carnival. So, thought process was ... do I do a 3 hour round trip to go and get the sports uniform or just forget about it, hmmm, yup, decision made, I forgot about it. At least I would get it right the next day ... and yes, I did. But Tuesday finishes with picking daughter up from school (in Year 4) only to find that the kids are trying to play a joke on me telling me there was no school for a week. Sure I said, yeah, funny joke, you kids are soooo funny. Laugh and Laugh. They are being quite adamant, but soon realise that I just didn't believe them and figured they were up to their usual silliness and said to my daughter, well, I am sure if there is, there will be a note in your bag about it. We get in the car and she hands me the note and sure enough the school has been closed due to swine flu! Surprise, Surprise, a Korean student brought it back from overseas!!! So, she is home until next week and then school hols start at the end of the week, so here is to low productivity for a month or so.

Yesterday went completely awry, starting with the power going out and me losing all my work for the last hour on this website that I had finally had a brainwave on - not happy Jan! Did the airport run and took a wrong turn, had a really urgent job dumped in my lap to be finished same day - late night, then the power went out again and I lost some work on another job - so much for autobackup. So, new day today, we shall see what it brings ....

Early Sunday morning, still dark, had a great night last night where we invited our neighbours up from down the road and fortunately I was in the mood for cooking. I ended up cooking 3 entrees, but here is the menu, just to get your tastebuds watering. 3 entrees consisting of trio of dips, butter bean and sundried tomato; guacamole and tomato bruschetta, plus fresh prawns on ice, plus deep friend crumbed camemberet cheese drizzled with cranberry sauce. Oh so yummy. This was then followed by Mahi Mahi fish with potato wedges and salad with a dessert of Chocolate mud cake with Chantilly Cream. It was an amazing meal and we were all completely stuffed. I just love cooking and I thoroughly enjoyed myself making all that, many hours of standing up in the kitchen was well worth it.

When I went to the markets yesterday I bought heaps of plants and we created a new little garden out the front of the house along the path. We went to this hotel last weekend out at Woody Point, called The Belvedere Hotel and we got this great food and really fantastic service, but they had some really beautiful gardens, beautifully landscaped, lots of chunky timber and I just loved the way the gardens and the plants spilled just over the paths and created this effect that I want in my garden. I have decided that the garden is my new project and I am going to do sculptures and all sorts of fun things throughout. I was inspired by this garden in Africa that I saw just recently on the ABC.
